Since the 19th century the Gran Hotel La Perla has seen unique moments in the city’s history. Great figures like Hemingway, Orson Welles, Manolete, Charles Chaplin, Pablo Sarasate, Julián Gayarre, Imperio Argentina, Cayetano Ordoñez and Ignacio Zuloaga have contributed to make this hotel a very special establishment.

The Gran Hotel La Perla was completely refurbished in 2007. It has 44 rooms, all of them with exterior views and balconies looking down on calle Estafeta and Plaza del Castillo. Some of its rooms are dedicated to the historical figures that have stayed in them since 1881. The Ernest Hemingway room, for example, is preserved exactly like when he stayed in it, and the same can be said for the Pablo Sarasate and Manolete rooms.

Plaza del Castillo in Pamplona is a central city square. It is decorated with a statue of King Navarre - Charles III Noble and a historic gazebo. It is surrounded by tall buildings, incl. the baroque Palacio de Goyeneche and Nuevo Casino (New Casino) with the Iruña café. It is an exceptionally green square, two rows of trees were planted around.
