According to Pro Football Focus, Lockett’s 94.5 grade out of the slot was second in the league, only falling behind Tampa Bay’s Chris Godwin – and finishing ahead of former teammate Golden Tate (Giants) and Jamison Crowder of the Jets.
Lockett started all 16 games for the first time in his career in 2019, hauling in 82 receptions for 1,057 yards and eight touchdowns. The receptions and yards were both career highs.
The retirement of Doug Baldwin forced Seattle to alter how they used Lockett, and it clearly worked exceptionally well – although the connection between Lockett and quarterback Russell Wilson is strong enough that he likely would have succeeded in whatever role was given to him.
